About ICHIBAN Toys
ICHIBAN Toys specializes in the unique market of designing and selling custom kits using official LEGO® elements. Our first kits rolled out in 2009 and since then our kits have exploded in popularity worldwide and have been featured in websites and journals. Our laboratory, as we like to call our workspace, has been rolling out new ways of making things move, operate and fit together so that we continually push our design quality forwards.
Our commitment is to always give you the best product we can offer at reasonable prices. We hope you enjoy browsing our designs or even putting one together.
About the Designer - Chris White
For the last five years, I’ve grown ICHIBAN Toys from a hobby parts seller on BrickLink to a custom LEGO element kit company and a professional parts seller. I've learned a lot over the five years and am always seeking new challenges. One of my main objectives is to make sure that I consistently provide the highest quality models I can offer so that you can be proud of what you have.
In terms of my background, I was raised in England, New Zealand and around the US. I studied Industrial Design at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, but left after two semesters to spend time further establishing ICHIBAN Toys. I currently live in Oregon, USA. My wife and I devote about 75 hours each per month in volunteer education work.
Do you run a business or have a product that you think would look fantastic in LEGO® elements? We have worked with companies to produce demonstration models to show to prospective customers and even custom complete kits! See more information here.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are these kits more expensive than comparative LEGO sets? We don't get wholesale discounts for our pieces. In fact, we buy the LEGO sets at the same retail and internet stores you buy LEGO sets from, but then we open them up, take the pieces out, and use them for our kits. To help offset the cost, we then sell the pieces we don't need right here at ICHIBAN Toys! We also use other avenues to find the pieces we need, but these can be even more expensive.
I have the most awesome idea for a new kit! Can you guys make it? We can give it a try! We always love hearing ideas for new kits and we do our best to convert them into a great kit. We always seem to have a long list of things to design so take note that any idea could take up to a year or even longer until a kit is available for sale. (If it is a really, really awesome idea, we may just write it in at the top of our list!). Sometimes, though, a good idea can just be impossible to release as a kit (i.e. Starbug from Red Dwarf - we are struggling to find the right pieces to make this work). Contact us here.
What if I want a kit or model as soon as possible? That can be done. We often produce one-off models for our customers of anything they want. We've designed construction equipment, a Pittsburgh Steelers logo and even a dog! These projects can be very expensive (they take a lot of time!), but we get to work on them straight away.
My kit has a missing piece! What do I do? Send us a message. We will ship the missing piece(s) to you immediately and at no charge to you. You bought a complete kit so we will make sure you have a complete kit. Don't worry - this doesn't happen often! In fact, less than 1% of our kits produced in 2012 have been missing a piece! We strive for 0%.
The website won't let me buy more than five of a certain kit. Will you sell me more than five? Most of our kits have a quantity purchase limit of five. If you would like to purchase more than five, please contact us so that we can check our inventory levels to make sure we have enough to fulfill your order. If not, we can usually prepare more kits in as little as a week. Please note that your order will then be placed via email; payment will be processed through an alternative checkout system which is hosted by Paypal (no Paypal account is necessary).
Can I buy this particular piece from you? If you don't see the piece you are looking for in our parts store, or you want to buy more than we currently have available, please contact us. We have over 1,000,000 pieces in stock and more come in every day. We can always order your pieces in through our network of suppliers and then ship them to your address.
What determines your LEGO piece prices? Most of the pricing is determined by supply and demand - some parts are very common and plentiful so we sell them at a lower price, others are much harder to acquire and so we price those accordingly. A lot of the pieces are also used in our kits and so are priced higher simply because we need them ourselves.
You forgot a piece in my order! What do I do? Send us a message. We will ship the missing piece(s) to you immediately and at no charge to you. Don't worry - this doesn't happen often!
